BMW has recently announced its plans to offer the 740Ld xDrive in the United States.
Set to be unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show, the model comes equipped with a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder diesel engine that will be able generate an output of 255 hp (190 kW) and 413 lb-ft (559 Nm) of torque.
The engine is further mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system. This enables the sedan to achieve the 0-60 mph (0-96 kmph) sprint in time of just 6.1 seconds. Official specifications have still not been released by the company as yet but BMW claims that other models equipped with this engine have seen a 25 30 percent improvement in fuel efficiency over their direct gasoline-powered counterparts.
The 740Ld xDrive will go on sale this spring and in terms of pricing it will kick off from $ 83,425 (including a destination and handling charge of $ 925).
We can expect further details of the model to be out soon in the coming months and so till then we can just keep guessing and waiting.
