BMW plans to create about 6,000 new jobs in 2022 as it prepares towards growing demand for its electric vehicles, the automaker’s chief executive Oliver Zipse told daily Muenchner Merkur.

The automaker is on a very good path through the transformation and has its assembly plants prepared for e-mobility, said Zipse was quoted in an interview on Wednesday.

“That is why we will increase our workforce by up to five percent next year.”

This month, BMW was reported to have been recruiting technicians from the US military as the automotive industry’s need for technicians is currently high.
