Cadillac spent much of the Geneva Motor Show this month in displaying the Escala concept, as the brand has restated the show vehicle is what customers must expect from future cars, however it shared some big news on the future product front, as well.
Cadillac formally announced the XT4 crossover will be releasing in the United States next year. The words come directly from Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen, who reminded the world at large of the brand name’s upcoming product offensive.
“Beginning with the launch of XT4, a new Cadillac will be brought to market every six months, an overall of 5 car lines in the space of 2 years,” de Nysschen stated.
Furthermore, the Cadillac XT4 will show up with exactly what de Nysschen refers as a “new series” of effective and powerful engines. When it comes to exactly what those powertrains might be, we don’t know, however judging by spy shots, we can’t envision any massive power sources plopping under the hood of the XT4 crossover. Instead, it’s most likely we might see a new four-cylinder engine, or perhaps even a glance of a Cadillac diesel that we have been assured for so long.
The Cadillac XT4 is the formal name for what we’ve been describing as the Cadillac XT3, suggesting the high-end brand will conserve the XT3 name for something even smaller than what the XT4 will determine in at. And with a 2018 launch window, we ‘d anticipate the XT4 to be revealed rather early on in 2018 to make sure it goes on sale by the first half of the year.
