Car crash involving big rig leaves four dead in Lancaster, California

A car crash on Friday morning in Lancaster resulted in deaths of two children and two adult, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

One children was admitted to hospital with critical condition.

An 18-wheeler and a Dodge Challenger crashed just after 9 a.m. on Avenue G near 30th Street, CHP Officer Amber Wright said.

The Dodge had two women and three boys.

All of the boys were admitted to a hospital where two of them died; one was between 10 and 11 years old, and one between 7 and 9. Another boy, said to be 5-year-old, is in critical condition.

One woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The second was admitted to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the big rig, its only occupant, was not seriously injured.

Officials are investigating the crash to know what caused the crash on the two-lane street.
