Daimler says upcoming Aston Martins will not receive AMG badging

by SpeedLux

Daimler has recently announced that Mercedes-Benz’s involvement in Aston Martin will not imply using the AMG badging.

The first results of the joingt venture between Aston Martin and AMG will be seen in the next couple of years but don’t expect to see the AMG badging on these Astons as indicated by Daimler boss. He further stated that the tie-up between the two parties will be subtle since customers will know about it without them making too much of the link and that was enough for the company. However, we are of the opinion that the “AMG” lettering will be kept on the engine cover.

The executive also said that Mercedes-Benz will not be involved in Aston Martin’s product planning as the collaboration will only imply the German marque will share engines and electrical components. However, Zetsche didn’t exclude the possibility of expanding this collaboration which would enable Aston Martin to benefit from Mercedes-Benz’s alloy chassis architecture.

Just to remind you, the highlight of this collaboration will be a newly developed V8 engine that will combine high performance with fuel efficiency for future Aston Martin models. In return, Daimler will receive a five percent stake in Aston Martin.
