Deliveries of 12,000 Jeep Cherokees blocked due to gearbox programming issues

More than 12,000 Jeep Cherokees have been built so far, but what is surprising is that Chrysler hasn’t delivered any of them because of some software problems related to the nine-speed automatic gearbox.

Earlier 2014 Jeep Cherokee was heavily criticized for its designing of front fascia and if that was not enough now the crossover is facing fresh issues related to the ZF-developed nine-speed automatic transmission.

Initially, the car was supposed to enter production phase in May which got delayed until June and after that it was further postponed until September. Eventually the production did start but already half of the October has been completed and Chrysler hasn’t delivered any cars and the company has not even provided an exact market release date in spite of the fact that more than 12,000 units have been already built till now.

The gearbox problem has to do with its incapability of adapting to the driver’s style and as a result the shift quality is not very good. Auto expert Jim Hall of 2953 Analytics LLP stated that Jeep wanted the transmission to be just smooth as silk, and this is apparently not happening at all and so all the problems are happening.
