Honestly speaking, this is hardly the first time that BMW’s upcoming 7-Series is caught on camera. However, this time around, something looks very interesting. It is the digital instrument panel and the steering wheel of the next generation BMW 7-Series that have been caught on camera.
Image of the digital instrument panel and steering wheel of the next generation 7-Series from the Bavarian marquee was recently posted on Instagram. Ironically enough, it was believed that the person who posted that image happened to be one of the company’s own test drivers. The image showed that the tachometer and speedometer would feature a classic design, yet with a fully digital technology. As you can see in the adjacent image, the test mule seems to be in the Sport mode, if we are to refer to the red graphics and also the “Sport” indicator lit at the bottom of the vehicle’s tachometer. The image depicts that it was taken as the car was moving at the speed of 36 km/h. Unfortunately, the image had been removed from Instagram.
Judging by the image, the steering wheel will serve multiple purposes and it will be comfortable to handle thanks to the high quality leather material used to wrap it. The steering wheel is also coming with chrome/silver accents. There is also quite a good chance that the next generation 7-Series from the German marquee will be featuring the company’s next generation iDrive technology. This will include a new infotainment system with a touchscreen display panel and the ability to recognize driver’s gestures. It is also likely that the rear seat passengers will be treated with a TouchCommand control system. This includes a tablet from Samsung, complete with BMW’s app that enables the rear seat passengers to access various functions of the vehicle.
The 2016 BMW 7-Series should be making its debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show event September this year.
