F1 News: The Possibility Of Allowing In-Season Circuit Testing In 2012 Was Discussed

by Sebastian Bivin

Forumal One teams have discussed the possibility of allowing some in-season circuit testing in 2012 and this may happen from next year. From some point of view this would be very useful, even natural thing to do. Of course, until a final decision can expose only the possibility that this to happen.

According to a report from France’s autohebdo.fr, the teams, who must agree to the rule change for next year, discussed relaxing the test ban during a meeting at Silverstone. The report added that the talks “have made little progress”.

Jean Todt, FIA president, said recently that the current blanket ban is “stupid” and teams should be allowed to do a few tests during the season in 2012.

Sam Michael, Williams technical director, is quoted as confirming: “There has not yet been a vote, just some ideas about having a test for young drivers during the season.”

“It (testing) was on the table but we had many other things to deal with (at Silverstone),” added the Australian, referring to the V6 engine rules and the blown exhaust saga.

Banning testing during circuit season is from the start an absurd idea …

The tests are indispensable for the development of cars. Surely this would better for the spectacle of racing. Anyway, to remove something and put it back now think … is not serious.

By the way, talking of seriousness, some participates in the competition for the Santander bank which allegedly can win 2 tickets to Abu Dhabi Grand Prix? I saw something on YouTube, but I’m very suspicious for these things!
