Ferrari has officially launched the 458 Spider convertible in Japan. Ferrari F1 drivers Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso were also present in Tokyo at the launch of the supercar which was displayed the in white color, instead of the red which is usually associated with the Italian automaker.
This year’s Frankfurt Motor Show had seen the showcasing of many new automobile including the Ferrari 458 Spider supercar. Ferrari has already released the specifications and pricing details for the powerful convertible. The 458 spider is supposed to cost around 257,000 US dollars.
Under the hood, the convertible is equipped with the powerful V-8 engine with a displacement of 4.5 liters, yields a net output of 570 HP and 398 lb-ft of Torque at 6,000 RPM. The Ferrari also features direct fuel injection and a seven speed dual-clutch F1 gearbox to transmit the output power to the wheels.
Ferrari is known worldwide for its high performance and the 458 Spider does not disappoint in this regard. The convertible can attain a maximum speed of 198 miles per hour. The 458 Spider also has amazing acceleration courtesy of the powerful V-8 engine and takes only 3.4 seconds flat to go from 0-100 kilometers per hour.
Ferrari used the launch of their new supercar to raise money for the earthquake-hit victims of Ishinomaki city in Japan. The charity auction was a huge success and over 911,100 US dollars were collected and the proceeds will go towards the reconstruction of education institutions that were damaged. Ferrari will be releasing the 458 Spider convertible for sale in other countries as well in the coming months.
