Ferrari no longer Mercedes’ major F1 rival

Red Bull has actually surpassed Ferrari as the new primary opponent for Mercedes in Formula 1. That is the opinion of F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, as the terrific Maranello marque continued to fail at Silverstone.

The brand-new achilles heel is the gearbox, with Sebastian Vettel not just out performed by Red Bull in Britain but benched on the grid by yet another gearbox issue.

“If we understood that, we would do something about it,” stated the German driver, when asked them about the reason for the recurring issue.

“But I don’t think there is a fundamental problem with the car due to the fact that these problems have just cropped up in the last races. So we have to rapidly comprehend exactly what has altered.”

Not just that, Ferrari is a long way from the top Mercedes rate this weekend at Silverstone.

Asked why, Vettel said, “It’s a good question however I do not know the answer. We are wasting time in all 3 sectors, so they simply have a much better automobile on the straights and in the corners.”

Ferrari has new parts at Silverstone, but Vettel explained: “It is a step in the ideal instructions however regrettably not enough.”

Ecclestone informed the German paper Bild am Sonntag that he senses a pattern in the current effort of Mercedes’ main competitors to catch up.
