Five youngsters, including an 11-year-old kid, have been jailed after they supposedly stole a car to go joy-riding throughout Adelaide’s east, west and northern suburban areas overnight.
Police patrols found the white Audi on Glen Osmond Road around 12.30 am on Monday early morning where a scan exposed the car had been stolen.
Officers lost sight of the vehicle on Cross Road prior to the SA Police helicopter was contacted to follow the car from above.
The car was tracked through Westbourne Park, Marion, Glenelg, Henley Beach, Semaphore, Wingfield, Mawson Lakes and Parafield Gardens before the youngsters discarded the car in Para Hills West and encountered a house on Jose Court.
Officers, helped by the cops dog Buster, set-up cordons and arrested the offenders at about 1.45 am.
The car had some small damage, including “gang of 22” scrawled throughout a car chair.
Two 17-year-olds, two 16-year-olds and an 11-year-old from the western suburban areas have been charged.
Today they appeared in Port Adelaide and Elizabeth Youth Courts where the bail was rejected. Both magistrates, Philip Broderick and Cathy Deland refused bail to all five youths, stated they were unsuitable candidates and also mentioned the seriousness of their crimes.
