Ford Motor Chairman Bill Ford stated on Monday the company would try to find more collaborations with other services as it relocates to broaden beyond production and offering vehicles and trucks.
“You’ll see a great deal of partnerships, a lot more than you utilized to see in the car market,” Ford determined reporters after attending a conference on entrepreneurship in Detroit.
Ford did not reveal any new deals and said Ford’s management is still working to specify its technique for self-driving automobiles, linking automobiles to the Internet and establishing brand-new transportation services such as trip sharing.
“You’ll hear more from us as this year goes on,” the chairman said, adding the service would think about acquisitions “if we believed that was properly to go.”
A few of Ford’s competitors, like General Motors, are taking a more aggressive method. GM earlier this year invested $500 million in ride-sharing service Lyft, and this month closed the acquisition of self-driving automobile technology start-up Cruise Automation. GM has laid out a plan to develop autonomous electrical automobiles for usage by Lyft.
