The luxury German automaker, BMW, has been reported to be working on a new, entry level crossover vehicle model. It is believed that the company will be slotting this new crossover under the X1 vehicle lineup. According to reports in the automotive world, the upcoming entry level crossover lineup from the German soil will consist of two models. One of these models will bear the ‘Urban Cross’ moniker while the other will bear the ‘1-Series Sport Cross’ moniker.
Both these upcoming crossover models from Germany will reportedly measure four meters in length. Yet, they will most likely benefit from a roofline design similar to that of a coupe. Unfortunately, however, this may make the upcoming German crossover models a little less practical as its total trunk volume will be limited to just 330 liters of luggage.
Stepping into the cabin, buyers of the car will find an interior atmosphere similar to that of the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer. Only, the difference is that the interior is now more streamlined than ever. In addition to that, a newly developed infotainment system featuring a touchscreen is also available now.
So far, the spec sheet of these two new crossover models from BMW remains undisclosed. Yet, perhaps we can all expect the cars to get a similar engine to that of the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer. As a matter of fact, beyond that engine, a plug-in hybrid engine may be in the work as well.
If everything falls into place, keen customers will be able to purchase the new BMW 1-Series Sport Cross and Urban Cross starting from the year 2017. As reported by a highly reputable German media, the Auto Motor und Sport, the price for the German crossovers could very well begin at 25,000 Euros, give or take.
