The General Motors Corp. (GMC), often known just as GM, was once delving in the off-road vehicle segment. The American automaker once had a division that was in charge of building the Hummer vehicles. However, that division has now been closed and there is no longer any Hummer of sorts it has in store that it can offer to customers. Nonetheless, recent reports indicate that the American company is once again considering building off-road vehicles. It is said that it plans to build a model which will take the fight to the Jeep Wrangler.
Well, to be speaking frankly, this is not really the first time that such a rumor is heard. There were also several similar rumors at earlier times and yet, none of these rumors has come true so far. Nevertheless, it may be different this time. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, the executives of the American automaker in question have been sitting together with their authorized dealers recently in order to discuss about the feasibility of an off-roader. The executives and dealers of GM have even unveiled to the public that the company is thinking about building an off-road vehicle model that will have its styling cues inspired by the Hummer vehicle models. In addition to that, they also claim that the company plans to equip the upcoming off-roader with a host of off-roading capabilities that cannot be taken for granted.
Unfortunately, the only drawback here is that the off-road vehicle in question will not be available anytime soon. The thing is, GM has not given a green light when it comes to producing the vehicle. Therefore, so far, the off-road vehicle is still in the discussion stage, nothing more. Of course, however, as reported by the Carscoops, this does not necessarily mean that the car is not going to enter production eventually.
