Harrods, London’s famous upmarket department store, added another achievement to their credit when they announced and showcased unique designs of diamond cuts and jewelry. Harrods is currently hosting the famous Royal Asscher Diamond company, who have unveiled their most recent collection of the rare ‘Stars of Africa’ diamonds. Mike Asscher, head of development of Far East business, regards the store as perfect match for this exhibition, and that the company is proud to display the Stars of Africa so close to the original Star of Africa- the Culllinan diamond.
This collection was first launched in 2009, as a tribute to the Royal Dutch Family, whose title of the ‘Royals’ was extended earlier this year. However, Harrods will now put on display and sell the largest artifacts of the Stars of Africa diamonds and jewelry. The Royal Asscher Diamond collection also includes earrings, pendants, bracelets, cuff links of various designs, each with their own unique appeal. Each piece that has been put on display are held in a unique case which is filled with a special liquid that seemingly adds elegance and glitter to the diamonds and other precious stones.
Apart from fulfilling the personal interests of the buyer, the exhibition is aimed at benefiting the Royal Asscher’s Africa fundraising program. Proceeds from the sale will go help in improving the infrastructure and developing Africa. 55 rings have been specifically fashioned for this collection. Rings that pay homage to the Dutch family are set in colors of the royal family- Orange and white diamonds set in white gold. The colored diamonds floating within medium sized rings presents a awe inspiring visual.
