Holden Prepping 24 New Models

The automaker from Australia, Holden, that belongs to the American automaker, General Motors (GM), very nearly went bankrupt not so long ago. However, it seems that the company is going to have a brighter future going onwards. According to GM, it has officially appointed Mark Bernhard the Chairman and Managing Director of the Australian automotive marquee. With that appointment, Bernhard will be taking the place of Jeff Rolfs, the Interim Managing Director. For that, Bernhard will have to tackle the task of transforming the automotive marquee in question into a sales company that does business in a national scale.

In its quest to revive Holden, GM has not only appointed Mark Bernhard the chief person in charge of the Australian automotive brand. Instead, the American automaker has also made an official announcement hinting that it is going to launch 24 new vehicle models within the upcoming five years. According to the company, these 24 new vehicle models will be coming with up to 36 new combinations of powertrain to offer to the customers.

At the moment, neither GM nor Holden is keen yet in terms of spilling the beans on the specifics of the vehicles. However, Stefan Jacoby, the International President for GM, has actually confirmed that Holden will launch an entirely new vehicle model dubbed the Barina Spark somewhere in early 2016, probably the first quarter.

Aside from the Barina Spark, the automaker will also launch a new model that will replace the present generation Chevrolet Captiva for the global markets. Also, there will be a completely new world class SUV model for customers to expect in the SUV market segment, which is rather crucial for the automaker. Lastly, the automaker is determined to offer its loyal customers with an upcoming true sports car that will come alongside rebadged Opel Insignia, Opel Cascada and Opel Astra.
