Honda Civic, Volvo XC90 grabs car and truck awards

by SpeedLux

A stalwart Japanese automobile as well as the initial, all-new offering from a Swedish car manufacturer now owned by a Chinese company captured the leading awards to open the North American International Auto Show.

The Honda Civic is the North American Car of the Year in the very first event that started the 2016 Detroit auto program.

The Volvo XC90 is the North American Truck of the Year.

The other auto finalists were Chevrolet Malibu as well as Mazda MX-5 Miata. On the truck side, finalists were Honda Aviator and also Nissan Titan XD.

* It was the Civic’s 2nd triumph. It won in 2006.

* The Volvo XC90 had its second triumph, too. It won in 2003.

While the victors have actually constantly been announced at the North American International Auto Show, the car show in Detroit does not hand the awards, nor does the ballot take place at the show. The honors are handed out by a group of vehicle as well as truck reviewers just before the main opening of the show at Cobo.
