Recently, we reported to you that the Japanese automaker, Honda, was prepping a new Civic Type R model and that the model had been caught on camera. Well, now, the Japanese company has eventually unveiled the vehicle officially. The car comes with an aerodynamic design, to say the least. Honda claims that the car is actually a race car that has been ideally designed for use on the normal roads.
As a road legal race car, it is only appropriate for the vehicle to sport a front splitter and largely designed air intakes on its newly designed front bumper. In addition to that, the car also features underbody panels with a flat design, extended side skirts, ventilated front fenders and a rear diffuser. The rear diffuser will receive air from the underbody panels of the vehicle. When it comes to the new Honda Civic Type R, customers can also notice the presence of four exhaust pipes, a rear wing with a prominent design and 19-inch bespoke alloy wheels. Honda has specifically developed the wheels for the Civic Type R, just so you know.
As for the interior, there may not be too many changes when compared to the predecessor of the model. However, owners of the vehicle should find the suede-effect sport seats comfortable to sit on, even for a long journey. The cabin also features contrast stitching painted in red, a machined aluminum shift lever and a sport steering wheel wrapped in quality leather material.
Honda has announced that a GT package will be available as well. This package will give customers added amenities, such as, electrically folding side mirrors, wipers with rain sensor, GPS navigation system, a premium audio system, Traffic Sign Recognition feature, Lane Departure Warning System and Forward Collision Warning System, among others.
Power is to come from a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. This engine is capable of delivering 310 PS and 400 Nm of power and torque in total, respectively. The engine will work in conjunction with a 6-speed manual gearbox, enabling the car to go from 0 to 100 km/h in no more than 5.7 seconds. The top speed of the vehicle is rated at 270 km/h.
