Hyundai + Kia aiming 10 percent sales increase in 2011

by Alex

The South Korean automaker Hyundai has said that they aim to sell 6.33 million cars in 2011. This is a rise by 10 percent of its sales figures in 2010. Last year the company has sold 5.75 million units in total which is inclusive of the sales figures of that of its affiliate company Kia Motors. The breakup of the sales figures of each individual company was 3.6 million units by Hyundai and 2.1 million units by Kia. In the process Hyundai sales marks an increase of 16 percent from 2009 and Kia sales is 40 percent plus rise over its sales in 2009.

Ahn Sang-jun the analyst from Tong Yang Securities said “Hyundai Motor Group’s 2011 target appears to be conservative and fully achievable. Sales growth will be slowing because of a high base effect during the 2009 downturn, but Hyundai will still gain a share in the market, which is expected to grow 7 percent this year led by China and the United States.”

2011 is expected to usher in new or maybe reworked models of its cars from Hyundai. This would help in achieving the goal that the company has set for itself. There would be the Hyundai Veloster small coupe mode, the Azera Sedan which is named the Grandeur in the South Korean market and in the European market the 140 SW and Saloon. There would also be the Kia Picanto and a facelift version of the car. Last year also, both the company had come out with a slew of new models like the 2011 Hyundai Sonata and Elantra as well the Kia Sportage CUV and Optima saloon.
