Jaguar XJ Facelift Spied Undergoing Tests

Although facelift versions of a vehicle are normally bound to feature only very limited changes, especially to the visual styling, automakers still try to cover their upcoming facelift vehicles with some camouflage. Yet, this does not seem to be the case for the British automaker, Jaguar. Only recently, its new XJ facelift was spotted with nearly no camouflage at all, except the wraps that were covering its headlights and taillights. Yet again, maybe those are the most important things the automaker has to cover. It’s a facelift, after all.

The facelift prototype has been spotted while undergoing tests. It can clearly be seen that the car sports a redesigned front grill, redesigned front bumper and a completely new set of front air intakes. Details on this Jaguar XJ facelift are quite scarce at the moment but usually, the British automaker is bound to offer a facelift version for all its vehicle range. With that being said, a facelift version of the Jaguar XJR may well be underway.

Speaking of the latter, the model is expected to come not only with visual styling tweaks and increased aerodynamics, but also an increase in performance. For your reference, the current generation Jaguar XJR, the 2014 model year XJR, comes with a 5.0L V8 Jaguar’s signature engine with supercharger. The total power and torque reach 550 hp and 680 Nm, respectively.

Mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, the car is capable of going from a completely stationary position to a speed of 100 km/h in mere 4.6 seconds. As for the top speed, the car can reach the 280 km/h mark. However, that is because Jaguar has limited the speed of the vehicle electronically. Otherwise, the car may even go faster than ‘just’ 280 km/h.

Well, considering that the Jaguar XJ facelift has already been undergoing testing, it may not be long before we finally see the Jaguar XJR facelift, too.
