One of the many attractions at the 2011 LA Auto Show will deffinitely be the global debut of the new Jaguar XKR-S convertible, having the Jaguar C-X16 production concept also be unveiled in North America.
The new soft-top version is a lot similar to the XKR-S Coupe, reason for which it is probably powered by the same 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine, which delivers 542bhp and 502lb ft of torque. This makes it 39bhp and 41lb ft of torque higher than the standard XKR-S.
The imited top speed is 186mph and the acceleration time of 4.4 seconds just to go from zero to 60mph. Any dynamic revisions made to the new cabriolet will likely be the same as those for the coupe, which is also expected. The revisions we are talkingg about will probably be some aerodynamic enhancements to the front and rear, as well as stiffer spring rates over those of the standard XKR’s and a more aggressive styling. In addition, it comes with reprogrammed damper, a new aluminum steering knuckle, and differential controls, wider tires and lighter wheels.
Unfortunately, the pricing information for the super-cabriolet hasn’t been released yet, but we will keep an eye on it, so stay tuned!
