The Jeep Cherokee is offered with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel motor in Europe.
Addressing Automotive News, Jeep CEO Mike Manley said offers of the Grand Cherokee Diesel would need to almost twofold, before the organization would offer a Cherokee Diesel in the United States. As Manley clarified, just eight percent of US-spec Grand Cherokee are furnished with a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel motor and he needs that number to build into the “mid-double digit” range before sanctioning a Cherokee Diesel.
Despite sounding cynical, Manley expects that diesel deals will develop in the future years and he noted “I never preclude anything with diesel for the Jeep brand.”
