The Picanto model from KIA has often been the ideal choice for those people out there who demand an affordable yet fun-to-drive city car. Now, a facelifted version of the model has shown up at this year’s Geneva Motor Show event.
The facelifted version of the KIA Picanto will be joining the South Korean automaker’s vehicle lineups present at the aforementioned auto expo. These lineups will include vehicles like the Cee’d GT Line and the SPORTSPACE concept car. As a facelift, the new Picanto from the South Korean marquee has been treated with minor tweaks for its exterior styling. The South Korean automaker has even offered buyers of this vehicle model with an exterior sport package as well, albeit this will be optional. The package is going to be available for both the 3- and 5-door variants of the South Korean city car. Well, things get a little more interesting inside the cabin. The interior of the vehicle can actually receive a 7-inch touchscreen audio video navigation system, should buyers of the vehicle choose to install it.
Other visible changes on the new Picanto compared to the previous generation include an array of new color options for the interior, chrome accents for the instrument panel and the air vents, new upholsteries, cruise control and speed limiter.
The new KIA Picanto facelift can also be seen standing on the stage at Geneva upon a set of 14-inch bespoke alloy wheels. In addition to that, the front brakes are now bigger than before. They measure 252 mm. Also, to ensure optimum performance for the vehicle, the engineers at the South Korean company have also tweaked the MPI engine used on the vehicle to meet the new Euro 6 emission standard. Speaking of the engine, owners of the vehicle can expect a total power output of 69 bhp.
The KIA Picanto facelift is currently being manufactured at KIA’s home country, the South Korea, and the order book for the model will be open as we approach the end of March 2015.
