Do you happen to be waiting for the Trail’ster vehicle model from KIA to come out? Well, there is good news for you as the South Korean automaker has actually launched a couple of teaser images that depict the vehicle model in question. Well, honestly speaking, it was not known before what moniker this vehicle would bear but thanks to the latest teaser images, it has been disclosed that the vehicle will bear the Trail’ster moniker.
Taking the moniker into consideration, it is very likely that this vehicle will be the successor to the South Korean company’s Track’ster concept. Speaking of the latter, it actually made an appearance at the Chicago Auto Show event that took place some three years ago. The vehicle came with two doors and a fixed roof. Unfortunately, it never seemed to make it into reality. Yet, hopefully, that will not be the case with the latest Trail’ster concept.
For those who wonder, this time around, the concept previewed by KIA comes with four instead of two doors in addition to a canvas roof that will be fully retractable. Also, judging by the body cladding on the vehicle, the concept will most likely feature a rugged design. Other components worth mentioning include a set of chunky tires wrapping two-tone bespoke alloy wheels and an aluminum underbody protection.
One component that is quite exciting about the vehicle is its all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain. As for the engine that the vehicle will pack under the hood, no one has been lucky enough to find out about it. Yet, as for the KIA Track’ster concept mentioned above, it packs a turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine capable of 250 bhp of power output. It also has an AWD drivetrain, electronically controlled, in addition to a 6-speed manual transmission featuring a stubby spherical gear shift knob.
The KIA Trail’ster will reportedly make an official appearance at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show event that will take place on February 12, 2015.
