The South Korean automaker, KIA, has taken advantage of this year’s auto expo in New York to officially unveil its latest generation Optima model. The company claims that its latest vehicle will be very suitable for those who are looking to buy a fresh alternative to a vehicle. Well, honestly speaking, the company may not be exaggerating here.
The latest generation Optima from KIA actually comes with an attractive and evolutionary design. Its front fascia now looks fresh with the inclusion of sweptback headlamps, prominent air intakes and also a slim front grille. Customers can even choose to install newly developed HID headlamps that are well equipped with a High Beam Assist function. With this technology in place, the car will automatically use low instead of high beams whenever it happens to detect the presence of an oncoming vehicle.
Buyers of the vehicle will now find a lot of changes inside the cabin as well. Inside, the car now features a more unified and cleaner design that is combined with premium quality materials. Passengers will feel very comfortable sitting inside the cabin of this latest Optima, thanks to the availability of highly comfortable seats, a premium audio system with 6 speakers, an onboard infotainment system that supports both the Android and Apple CarPlay functions and also auxiliary soft-touch components.
For customers opting for the higher trims, they will receive even more comfort and luxury amenities. These include ventilated front seats and heaters, Nappa leather upholsteries and also a high quality audio system from Infinity that features a digital amplifier with a total capacity of 630 Watts and 14 speakers.
Under the hood of the vehicle, buyers will find a host of different engines. To begin with, they can choose the 2.4L 4-cylinder engine which delivers 185 bhp and 241 Nm of power and torque, respectively. Yet, for a better alternative, there is a 1.6L 4-cylinder turbo engine with 178 bhp and 264 Nm of power and torque. Last but not least, there is a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo engine with a total power output of 247 bhp and a total torque of 352 Nm.
Customers can expect either a 7-speed DCT or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2016 KIA Optima is very likely to hit dealerships somewhere around the end of 2015 and pricings will be announced then.
