Nissan to Feature GYM Button for Qashqai and X-Trail

by SpeedLux

Owners of the Nissan Qashqai and the Nissan X-Trail vehicle models will soon receive a new addition to their vehicle. The Japanese automaker has officially announced that it will be adding a so-called GYM button for both the aforementioned vehicle models. According to the Japanese company, this new button will help owners of the cars lose some weight of their body.

Now, the question is how owners of either the X-Trail or Qashqai from Nissan are going to get that interestingly sounding GYM button. Well, Nissan mentions that they can start paying a visit to their local Nissan dealership.

Referring to the explanation from the Japanese marquee regarding the GYM button, once activated, it will shut down all assisting features on both the Nissan X-Trail and the Nissan Qashqai. This, in turn, will make it necessary for owners of both the Japanese vehicle models to perform some workouts behind the wheel of their vehicle. With the GYM button in the work, there will be no such thing as electric windows, power steering system, autonomous parking system or whatever assisting technologies that are commonly found on today’s modern vehicles.

As if all those are not quite enough just yet, the GYM button will even increase the resistance level of the clutch, brake and accelerator pedals as well. Even the gearbox gate of the vehicle will be stiffened as well.

In order to let owners of the Japanese vehicles in question know how successful they have been on their workouts behind the wheel, the vehicles will have their onboard infotainment system display the total amount of calories that driver of both vehicle models have burnt thus far. There will also be a newly developed app called the ‘Gym and Go’ that will keep track of how drivers of the Japanese cars are progressing.

As it turns out, the GYM button is the result of collaboration between Nissan and Raol Pofil, a personal trainer. Development of the button took place following a study that was carried out earlier by a Swedish university, the University of Lura. According to Pofil, with the presence of the GYM button, owners of either the Nissan X-Trail or the Nissan Qashqai should be able to burn no less than 1,415 calories within every single week.
