Lotus Evora 400 to hit the markets, just in six months after the coupe launches in the States

Right after six months after the super Roadster was launched in the U.S, Lotus has announced that its Evora 400 is ready to hit the markets in December. Lotus is confident that their car would do well in the American market and they want this model to the match the sales of the coupe. The chief of Lotus Jean-Marc Gales said, “The roadster is the quintessential U.S. car. We are betting heavily on Florida and California with it.” Apparently there are 500 units that are being planned to be sold annually. The difference between the coupe and the Roadster is that the Roadster is equipped with a removable roof. The chief of Lotus has previously revealed this model would feature two carbon fiber roof panels that can be stored in the front and weigh a mere 3 kg each.

The Evora 400 Roadster is going to be the same as the coupe when seen through a mechanical standpoint. However the Evora 400 Roadster will have an updated version of the Evora S’s super charged 3.5 liter Toyota V6 engine which will now be capable of producing 400 horsepower which is a 16 per cent increase from its predecessor. Rumor is that the Evora 400 Roadster will be priced at aound $89,900. According to spokesman Alastair Florance, “the Evora 400 will arrive in the market as a 17MY and will be fully compliant with FMVSS 208, including the smart air bag element.” The torque of the car is 410 Nm and Lotus have confirmed that the car will be able to sprint from 0 to 96km/h is just about 4.1 seconds and can hit a top speed of 300 km/h.
