The global premiere of the Mazda TAKERI concept will be showcased at next months’ Tokyo Motorshow.
In order to bring the mid-size Mazda’s new design language, KODO – Soul of Motion has been exploited by the concept car. Aside from a slight resemblence to the recent Mercedes concept and production models in the nose area, the car has a very distinctive design, having thepotential to blow up the fleet market.
Part of the world premiere of the Mazda TAKERI will be highlighting the first regenerative braking system, which will be joined by SKYACTIV-D diesel engine and an I-stop idling stop system.
According to the Japanese automaker, all these features combined will assure the Takeri an excellent fuel economy.
This unique idling stop system, i-stop, for use with the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 engineis able to restart in a single cycle by careful positioning of the pistons as the engine stops, while other diesel engine stop-start systems require two engine cycles to restart combustion.
I-stop manages to achieve the world’s fastest diesel engine restart time, at less than 0.4 seconds.
Unfortunately, we do not have more information regarding this model, but we promise to return with much more details not about the performance of the car, but about the looks and pricing as well, after the doors open at the 2011 Tokyo Show.
