Ever since Mazda introduced its zoom-zoom slogan, the Japanese automaker has launched quite a decent number of vehicle lineups in the automotive markets around the globe. Now, the company in question has introduced yet another model, namely the Mazda Carol. This time, the company is launching the 2015 Carol in its home country, Japan, first.
Basically, however, it is safe to say that the 2015 Mazda Carol is in fact a Suzuki Alto that has been rebadged. Judging by the picture of the car officially released by the Japanese automaker behind its development, it can be seen that the design of the vehicle is quite straightforward. Nonetheless, it still follows the KODO design language applied at the company. Unfortunately, the design is not attractive at all, to say the least. Yet, the car manages not to look offensive, either.
The next generation Mazda Carol comes in several variants. For the base trim, Mazda has equipped it with several modern features, such as, keyless entry system, 2-speaker audio system and a standard air conditioning system. Yet, as for its higher trims, the vehicle model in question is likely to come with heated front seats, tilt steering wheel and also power windows.
The engine options for the Carol will start with a 660cc engine capable of 49 PS and 58 Nm of power and torque. For an alternative, there is also a VVT engine capable of 52 PS and 63 Nm of power and torque.
As can be seen, the engine options mentioned above are not at all that powerful. Therefore, the Japanese automaker tries to make up for this by ensuring the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. Fuel consumption is rated at 27.2 km/L for the base version. Meanwhile, for the VVT version, it is rated at 37 km/L.
In spite of its drawbacks, those who are interested in purchasing the car can do so on January 30, 2014, onwards. The asking price of the 2015 Mazda Carol will start at 847,800 Japanese Yens.
