Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet Spotted

Although the luxury German automotive marquee, Mercedes-Benz, is trying its best not to let the world know about an open top variant of the C-Class it is working on, it seems that someone has somehow happened to come across the vehicle in question during the evaluation process. As can be seen in the adjacent image, the car wears full body camouflage. Yet, in spite of the full body camouflage, we can still tell that the car is actually the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet.

The open top C-Class from Mercedes-Benz is supposedly going to take the place of the CLK, which is getting older by the day. The CLK successor we are talking about here seems to be coming with a retractable soft top made of multiple layers. Word has it, the upcoming C-Class roadster is going to bear a price tag that is lower than that of the Mercedes-Benz SLK. Just as a kind reminder, the SLK is going to have its moniker replaced to the SLC sometime soon.

The exterior design of the open top C-Class is most likely going to be very similar to that of its sedan counterpart, with the retractable roof being the only exception. For the interior, the German marquee had actually given the public a preview of it by means of a mockup last summer. The mockup was made available at the company’s museum in Stuttgart, Germany. Of course, it is not surprising at all to see that the interior looks and feels a lot like that of the sedan as well as the wagon variants. The only differences noticeable are the sliding and power tilting seats as well as the roof button. There are, however, some reports which indicate that the vehicle is going to feature Mercedes’ AIRCAP (air deflector) and AIRSCARF (neck heating) functions as well.

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet will most likely make its debut some time in 2016, after the official release of its coupe counterpart, which is slated for this year. When it comes to the engine, it seems that both the coupe and cabriolet variants will be receiving a 4.0L V8 engine with twin turbochargers. Power is expected to range from 476 to 510 HP while torque is expected to lie somewhere between 650 and 700 Nm.
