In its most successful August in its over 100 years of history, German premium automaker Mercedes Benz sold an impressive 156,246 cars globally.
And while demand is up for all high-end automotive marques– BMW is midway as a result of its most effective year of perpetuity – it’s SUVs that are leading the charge.
“SUVs once again contributed substantially to the best-ever unit sales by Mercedes-Benz this August,” Ola Källenius, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG working for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales. “Mercedes-Benz has already delivered more than 4 million SUVs to clients worldwide. Their appeal is rising year on year.”
Of the 156,246 cars sold during the past month, 56,286 – that’s simple over 1 in 3 – were of the SUV range.
Mercedes is preparing an even larger push into the SUV market over the coming months and is tipped to reveal a plug-in electrical SUV to challenge the Tesla Model X at the Paris Motor show in October.
