Mercedes-Benz, a luxury automaker from German soil, is reportedly working on a new vehicle model that will bear the GLC moniker. So far, the company is not quite keen just yet on revealing what the vehicle is going to look like. However, some spy photos have now emerged on the web, depicting what the vehicle in question will be like. The car was spotted recently while filling up its fuel at a gas station.
Judging by the spy photos, it can be seen that the Mercedes-Benz GLC will actually come in the form of a crossover that has a considerably compact size. It is also seen that the vehicle will sport rear doors. This is unlike what was spotted on the previous spy photos. Perhaps the German automaker has decided to apply some changes onto the vehicle. As a successor to the GLK, it seems that the GLC will have a completely new visual design, leaving behind the rather boxy design of its predecessor. Unfortunately, the German company in charge of developing the car is trying to hide the new design completely as the car is covered in heavy camouflage from its front to its rear fascia. In addition to that, it is also quite apparent that the car, both inside and outside, is based on the C-Class vehicle lineups from the company. In fact, in case you don’t know, that is why the vehicle bears the GLC moniker, with the C referring to the company’s C-Class. That said, the car will have an MRA platform.
For those craving for its performance specifications, the car is very likely to come with the engine that is also used on the C-Class. We are talking about a 4.0L V8 engine with twin turbochargers here. At least, this is most certainly the engine that customers of the range topping GLC trim, the AMG GLC 63 will receive. Besides the GLC, Mercedes-Benz is also planning two other big vehicle models, which are, the GLE and GLS which, apparently, are based on the E-Class and S-Class, respectively. This reminds us of the company’s words that 2015 will be the year of the SUVs.
