Mercedes-Benz Reveals the Innovation of its first Superyacht

by SpeedLux

Similar to Bugatti and Aston Martin, the German vehicle manufacturer is bringing its industry-leading innovations and extravagant designs to the seas. The Arrow460-Granturismo, produced in collaboration with U.K.-based Silver Arrow Marine, borrows heavily from Mercedes-Benz’s long history of ergonomics, focus on information, and innovative designs. “This new motor yacht, with its emotional and modern functions, embodies our Mercedes-Benz design viewpoint of sensual purity and is an ideal expression of contemporary high-end,” stated Gorden Wagener, vice president of design at Daimler AG.

One would want to compare the Arrow460-Granturismo to the company’s flagship S-Class cars. The long foredeck and arched roofline also echo the appearances of renowned Benz designs such as the 2011 SLS AMG Roadster and 1954 300 SL. But the Granturismo obtains other touches from its asphalt-based cousins, too. Similar to the firm’s more recent automobile, the superyacht can electronically dim its windows to protect travelers from the sun.

The smooth 46-foot craft, which accommodates 10 individuals, has a huge windscreen that can be raised to create a protective archway, shielding travelers from UV rays while enabling ocean breezes to cool them off. The Arrow460-Granturismo is propelled by a 480-horsepower engine, moving it up to 40 knots (46 m.p.h.), and has a Twin Disc Express Joystick System, giving more hands-on control of the yacht’s motion. Additional technical details will be available this month; the Arrow460-Granturismo will enter into production this year.
