Mercedes confirms it is getting into EV production

Robert Bosch GmbH and Daimler are getting into a partnership for production of electric motors to be used on new generation electric vehicles. This has been announced by Daimler.

BMW is planning to start the production of their EV model by the early part of 2013, and this could take a severe beating in case the Daimler, Robert Bosch joint project come up with their model before that.

The joint project has a 50 – 50 partnership as per the memorandum of understanding. Their main aim is to accelerate the technology for electric motor units.

It is expected that the B-Class E-Cell and SLS AMG E-Cell would be the first of the Mercedes models that would be fitted with the new units coming out of this joint project.
