Mitsubishi Motors Corp. stated it has poorly tested the fuel economy of its vehicles for the past quarter century, deepening a crisis that’s already eliminated half its market value.
The automaker made a panel of three former prosecutors to examine inappropriate testing that goes back as far back as 1991, consisting of the falsification of fuel efficiency data, as per a statement. The firm stated last week it had not been complying with Japanese screening standards since the year of 2002.
“Consumers purchased our automobiles based on incorrect fuel-economy data,” President Tetsuro Aikawa told press reporters in an interview. “I cannot say sorry however assist.”
