New Ford F-150 SVT Raptor gets 411 HP 6.2L V8 engine

Ford fits a more powerful engine under the hood of the 2010 F150 SVT Raptor. Given its new numbers and characteristics, it is now the most aggressive half a ton pickup in the US. The V8 6.2L engine is the same powerplant used for the 2011 Super Duty but it has more torque and more power.

The pickup features engine block made from cast-iron, cylinder heads furnished from aluminum, and better breathing camshaft with roller-rocker shaft. The F-150 SVT Raptor improved its fuel efficiency with the improved variable cam timing. The maximum power of the engine is around 306kW while the peak torque can be expected to hit 434 lb-ft.

The carmaker subjected the vehicle through thorough testing in the desert heat just to make sure the pickup will be really reliable for everyday use.

The F-150 SVT Raptor MY 2010 can be acquired through dealerships spread across the US. There are about 3,000 pre-orders which came in after the unveiling of the truck. The tag price starts at $41,995 inclusive of delivery and destination.
