The next generation Q7 from Audi, the 2016 model year Audi Q7, is actually not expected to show up at least until the next Detroit Auto Show event takes place next year. However, today, some images of the car have been leaked and they can be found swirling around a number of sites and forums on the internet, with the Autopareri being one good example. This should prove to be quite a hit for the luxury German automaker, especially considering that the images leaked are actually official images of the company’s next Q7 model.
Having a look at those leaked images, real car fans will need no time at all to notice that the car actually looks familiar in spite of it being attractive. This is because the front grille and headlights of the car can actually be found on the 2016 Audi TT Sports as well. Yet, going to the flanks, they now sport firmer character lines, resembling those that come standard on the Audi A8. Then, moving to the rear fascia of the car, the only thing new is perhaps the new set of exhaust tips, shaped resembling a square.
The 2016 Audi Q7 is reportedly based on the new MLB Evo platform that belongs to the Volkswagen Group. It is said that this new generation Q7 takes advantage of the SUV version of the aforementioned platform. For those who are not aware just yet, the MLB Evo platform from VW is actually an upgrade to the MLB structure that Audi has been using for years. The benefit car owners can expect to get from this new platform is that the car will become lighter, thanks to the car being constructed using the multi-material system.
When it comes under the hood, the 2016 model year Audi Q7 offers three engine options, which are, 3.0L TDI engine, 3.0L TFSI engine and a 4.0L TFSI engine. Additionally, there may also be a hybrid plug-in version of the car.
