2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Loses Power over ECU Tuning

by SpeedLux

It needs no questioning that the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is a sports car that deserves every bit of attention. With quite an affordable price tag, about $80,000, the car can offer 650 hp aside from 650 pound-feet of torque right out of the factory. Now this is something that people can’t always expect to get with just about any cars out there. Unfortunately, however, with some very first units of the aforementioned car model delivered to the customers, negative reports have started to arise. Some of the Chevy Corvette Z06 owners claim that there seem to be factory limitations as to what the car can do. These reports mostly come from those who have run their cars on a track or circuit for multiple laps.

A lot of Corvette Z06 owners believe that the issue relies on the supercharger heat soak. Yet, as it turns out, the true culprit that causes this very problem is the ECU tuning that comes from the factory, which is a conservative tuning system.

When confirmed, General Motors itself has explained how important it is for the car to feature the conservative ECU tuning system. It is only then that the car will be able to meet the required emission standards. In addition to that, the conservative ECU tuning also makes sure that the car is not likely to run into any troubles whatsoever over its warranty period. For your information, the powertrain warranty for this car normally applies for either five years or one hundred thousand miles.

According to GM, owners of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 can actually get rid of the factory default ECU tuning system. To do that, they may have to use aftermarket parts. Nevertheless, they will have to keep in mind that by doing so, they actually cause their car warranty to become void.

From what I’ve read it’s during initial 500 mile break in.
