Mercedes-Benz CLC Revival Render Reimagines the Old C-Class Coupe for 2027

A digital artist known as Theottle recently published a fictional take on a next-generation Mercedes-Benz CLC. Rather than using today’s CLE as inspiration, the project starts from the previous-generation C-Class Coupe. The result revives a nameplate Mercedes left behind years ago and presents an alternative vision for a compact two-door model.

The timing is interesting. Mercedes no longer sells coupe or convertible versions of the latest C-Class and E-Class. Those roles moved to the CLE, whose coupe variant entered production nearly three years ago. The convertible followed six months later. Buyers still cannot order a V8-powered version, although AMG is working on both the CLE 63 and the more exclusive CLE 63 Mythos.

That context makes the rendering stand out. Instead of evolving from the CLE, the fictional CLC continues the design path of the outgoing C-Class Coupe. The front end adopts smaller headlamps and introduces a daytime-running-light signature built around Mercedes star elements. A revised grille appears up front as well, featuring a horizontal bar interrupted by the central emblem. The lower bumper also receives a redesign.

Viewed from the side, the car stays close to its source material. The wheels come directly from the C-Class Coupe, and much of the overall shape remains familiar. Still, several body details differ. The rear pillars appear slimmer, the back glass grows taller, and the taillights receive a completely new look with star-themed graphics. Further adjustments reach the trunk lid, rear bumper, diffuser, and taillight trim. The exterior paint finishes the transformation.

The rendering also revives memories of the original CLC. Introduced in 2008, the production model used the W203 C-Class as its foundation while borrowing styling cues from the newer W204 generation. Mercedes stated at the time that more than 1,000 components were new. The package included revised suspension tuning, steering derived from the SLK, fresh sheet metal, and a range of gasoline and diesel engines.

Whether such a vehicle fits into Mercedes-Benz’s current lineup is another discussion. The CLE already occupies the brand’s modern coupe space, and more powerful AMG derivatives are on the way. Still, digital projects often explore roads manufacturers choose not to follow. This one asks a simple question: what would happen if the CLC returned and ignored the CLE altogether?
