The ultimate crossover vehicle powered by a GTR engine has been finally unveiled. The Juke-R managed to get out of the closet, after a while full of teasers, videos about how it was being made, renderings and all sorts of spy shots and speculations about it.
The unveiling “ceremony” took place during the press event held for the 2012 Nissan Qashqai.
According to Nissan, the Juke-R will be available in both versions, left-hand and right-hand drive, and will be built by leading motorsports outfit RML with input from Nissan Technology Centre for Europe (NTC-E).
Regarding the engine of the new super crossover , it will be a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine adopted straight from the flagship supercar of Nissan. Under the floor hides, the GT-R’s six-speed transaxle, with the front and rear ends attached with a modified GT-R 4WD driveline and prop shaft, while chunky 20-inch RAYS forged alloy rims fill each wheel arch.
The interior merges the supercar concept with the crossover with style, as the Juke’s dashboard has been altered to accommodate the dials, gauges and 7-inch customizable LCD display from the GT-R. Twin race-seats with five-point harnesses sit inside a visible roll cage that enhances rigidity to provide the ultimate performance and to comply with FIA safety standards.
Even though official testing is supposed to start in November, people shouldn’t expect to see it in production. However, inspired by the Juke-R, Nissan will make a much hotted-sporty Juke in near future, which unfortunately, we are absolutely positive that won’t have the same engine.
