Nissan Vehicles Now Glow in the Dark!

A paint that glows in the dark is actually not a new invention anymore. However, when it comes to the world of automobiles, we have never actually seen such a kind of paint applied onto any vehicles out there, by any automakers in the world. Yet, that is probably about to change. Thing is, the Japanese automaker, Nissan, has released a video clip in which it shows off a Leaf vehicle model that actually glows in the dark, mind you! As it turns out, the paint for the car has been developed by the Japanese company together with Hamish Scott, the inventor of this kind of paint.

The Japanese company is referring to the paint in question as a paint that is powered by the ultraviolet. The paint comes with a spray-applied coating which possesses the ability to absorb the energy from ultraviolet rays while the sun is still shining and then store the energy absorbed for a later use. This enables the paint upon the car to glow for approximately eight to ten hours when the night falls. It is also said that the paint is completely made of organic materials, including the so-called Strontium Aluminate, which is a very rare Earth product. It is odorless, solid, and also chemically and biologically inert.

Well, as attractive as it may sound, it is very unfortunate that the glow-in-the-dark vehicle paint is not going to be made available for the mass market by the Japanese automaker. Moreover, according to Nissan, once manufactured, the paint will actually last for some twenty five years. This is a very long lifespan when compared to today’s glowing car wraps and paints, all of which actually come with a considerably short lifespan. Well, if only Nissan would made the paint commercially available, a lot of people would definitely have wanted to purchase the paint and apply it onto their vehicle of choice.
