Japan’s Nissan will choose by the end of the year if they have to construct its brand-new Qashqai SUV design at Britain’s most significant car plant, a source informed Reuters, after CEO Carlos Ghosn met Prime Minister Theresa May to look for reassurance over the impact of Brexit.

Simply weeks after telling Britain that he could scrap brand-new financial investment unless he got a guarantee of compensation for expenses connected to Brexit, Ghosn held talks with May in her Downing Street home located in central London.

Companies have been concerned that Britain is headed towards a “hard Brexit”, which would leave it outside the European single market and facing tariffs of approximately 10 percent on automobile exports.

Nissan, that made almost one in three of Britain’s 1.6 million automobiles in 2015, currently constructs the Qashqai sport utility automobile at its Sunderland plant located in northern England. The time it takes to bring a brand-new car into production implies Nissan has to decide the location of its next generation design anytime soon.
