One dead and one injured in car crash on Linden Road, Illinois

One man is dead and another person is battling with life-threatening injuries following a car accident in Cherry Valley Township in Linden Road, Illinois.

Winnebago County officials say it took place on Linden Road and Appell Lane around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Investigators say the car was moving east on Linden when it drove off the road and hit a tree. The male driver of that car was declared dead at the scene.

Police say another person involved in the accident was admitted to an area hospital and is in critical condition.

The area of the road in between Mulford and Perryville Roads was shut down for several hours as officers investigated.

It is still yet to be revealed that what caused the crash.
