Opel Vauxhall unveils the new Astra VXR hatchback

by Alex

Today Opel Vauxhall unveiled their brand new Astra OPC VXR model which has a design similar to the previous Astra models. The car looks very sexy on the outside and Opel has made efforts to make it a high-performance car.

Opel has provided some enhancements on the car exterior like trapeze shaped dual exhausts, aerodynamic roof spoiler, side skirts and sports bumpers to improve the aerodynamics of the VXR and give it a modern look.

Under the hood of the hatchback, Opel has equipped the VXR with a 2.0 liter displacement engine unit coupled to a turbocharger which can produce a net output of 200 Horse power and 400 N-m of Torque for the wheels. The Astra VXR is supposed to be a front wheel drive vehicle. The new VXR gets a mechanical Limited Slip Differential because the earlier versions of Opel Astra suffered from the annoying problem of torque steer.

The Opel’s FlexRide system is also provided in the Astra VXR which has a Sport button for adjusting the damper as per your preferences. Standard Brembo brakes and steering control has also been provided in the awesome car.

The Astra GTC is much cheaper than the Astra VXR but its engine output is just 180 Horse power as compared to the 280 BHP of the Astra VXR. Opel has done a wonderful job in making the VXR a powerful yet cool hatchback model.
