Overhauled: Tokyo Motor Show kicking off on a later date, at smaller venue

There will be big changes to the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. The showcase of vehicles will be moving into a smaller venue and the event will be starting about a month late from its original and traditional schedule.

There were even rumors last year that the Japan event will be cancelled when the auto show was marked by all participants, except for minor car producers from Europe, backing out of the event.

The association of carmakers in Japan agreed that they will run the show before the end of November 2011 putting some gap between the show and the Frankfurt event. The auto show will be held at the Tokyo Big Sight or more formally known as the Tokyo International Exhibition Center.

It used to be at the Makuhan Messe since 1989. The former location is about three times bigger than the new home of the auto show.

The organizer of the event also disclosed that the exhibits will focus more on the transportation of the future communities.
