Patent Drawings Reveal the 2016 MINI Convertible

It seems that MINI, the luxury division owned by the luxury German automaker BMW, has quietly been working on a new MINI model. This time, it is a convertible that is in the work. Only recently, what seem to be official patent drawings of the 2016 MINI Convertible have shown up on the World Wide Web pages, as reported by the Autovisie.

Taking a close look at the alleged patent drawings of the vehicle, it is quite obvious that the car is going to sport a similar look to its standard model counterpart. However, unlike the standard model, this time around, the car will have a roof made of fabric and is retractable. In addition to that, the car will also be underpinned by the company’s UKL1 chassis and those who are keen on buying the vehicle will be given several engine options to choose from.

Speaking of the engine options available, customers can choose a petrol 1.5L 3-cylinder engine, to begin with. This engine will have 134 bhp and 230 Nm of power and torque, respectively. Or, if that does not sound quite like an option, customers can also go for a diesel 1.5L engine, also with three inline cylinders. This one offers a total power of 114 bhp and a total torque of 269 Nm. Another option, which seems to be sitting at the top of the range, is a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that runs on petrol for fuel. For customers that spend their hard earned cash on this last engine option, they will be able to expect a total power output and torque of 189 bhp and 300 Nm.

Although we can only see the car in what look like official patent drawings as of the moment, it won’t likely be long before the company will officially unveil the 2016 MINI Convertible.
