The weekly magazine Autocar has voted the Porsche 911 GT3 RS as Britain’s best drivers’ car for the year 2010. This announcement comes after test-driving the Porsche’ s 911 GT3 RS earlier this year.
The 3.8 liter boxer 6 power plant of the super sports car produces over 320 kW of power and churns out a staggering 430Nm of torque. Experts believe that under the prevailing conditions when competition in the super sports car market is perhaps at its fiercest, Porsche’ s trimmed down version, the slim GT3 is perhaps in spades the most worthy opponent. Donington Park became the field of battle for the so-called landslide victory for Zuffunhausen.
Chas Hallett, the Autocar Editor, reportedly said, “ The Porsche 911 GT3 RS was a clear winner; each of our seven judges placed the car at the top of their list. On the day of our road and track testing at Donington, the GT3 RS’ drive was simply the most involving, enjoyable, and satisfying of all the sports cars involved.”
Quite an impressive list of machinery was formed by the other cars involved in the event. The value of all the machinery was estimated at just under £ 1 million. The judging team from Autocar had opportunity to test the entire line-up. The test drive had taken place on some of the best driving roads of United Kingdom. Autocar gave the final decision in favor of Porsche’ s 911 GT3 RS post proper evaluation of various on-road and off-road features of the car. Thus, the on-road features of the car had a fair role in the decision of the judging teams of Autocar.
Noble’ s M600 was rated second by the Autocar judging team. The judges praised the car for its polished, surprisingly forgiving chassis along with steering. The predictability of M600’ s handling and brutal straight-line speed was highly appreciated by the judges. The Ferrari 458 Italia, the brilliant and a fast car was ranked third. The Ferrari had completed the Donington circuit on the day in 1min 15.9sec.
