The Japanese automaker, Mitsubishi, has taken the liberty of releasing an official teaser image. This official teaser image from the company seems to depict the 2016 model year Mitsubishi Outlander facelift. The teaser comes just before the start of this year’s New York Auto Show event, which is scheduled to take place April this year.
Speaking of this teaser image from the Japanese company, it seems that the car being teased does not look entirely similar to what was seen in the former spy images captured just a few days earlier from today. However, this is most likely due to the fact that the one shown in the teaser image here is the US-spec variant, which the company has confirmed to make its world debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show. It seems that the vehicle is going to borrow some of the styling cues from the company’s Outlander PHEV Concept-S. As for the interior, it is said that the materials used will be better than those of the model’s predecessor.
According to the latest reports in the industry, the Japanese marquee will also unveil the facelifted version of the Outlander PHEV. This facelift will expectedly come with an enhanced hybrid powertrain. For comparison, the predecessor of the model packs a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine combined with a 12kWh lithium-ion battery as well as two electric motors. On electric power alone, the predecessor can travel a distance of 880 km on a single charge.
It is also said that both the new Mitsubishi Outlander and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will make their world premiere come April 2, 2015, when this year’s New York Auto Show commences. Customers will likely be able to expect an enhanced CVT system, better sound deadening material and also 2.4L engine, with the latter most likely being an optional rather than a standard package.
