France’s PSA Group, the maker of Peugeot, Citroen and DS automobiles, stated on Saturday it had signed an agreement to begin assembling two car models in Kenya.
PSA, which wants to lower its reliance on European sales, will assemble the Peugeot 508 and 3008 from sets of pre-assembled modules with local partner URYSIA, its Kenyan importer and supplier.
The venture will at first produce about 1,000 vehicles every year, PSA stated. The Peugeot brand previously assembled automobiles in the east African country from 1974 to 2002.
