Range Rover Sport Hybrid makes debut in Frankfurt

by SpeedLux

Following an announcement made last month, Land Rover has now unveiled the 2013 Range Rover Sport at the ongoing Frankfurt Motor Show.

Claimed to be the first premium diesel-electric hybrid SUV on the market, the Range Rover Sport Hybrid promises to offer a good fuel consumption of 6.4 liters / 100 km (36.7 mpg US or 44.1 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 169 g/km. This will be possible thanks to a SDV6 3.0-liter diesel engine, an electric motor and an 8-speed auto transmission from ZF.

With the help of this arrangement, the British off-roader will be able to generate an output of 340 HP (250 kW) at 4,000 rpm and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm. Despite the hefty 2,372 kg (5,229 lbs) curb weight, the hybrid Range Rover Sport can accelerate to 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) in just 6.7 seconds and will be able to hit a top speed of 140 mph (225 kmph).

Land Rover stated that they are already taking orders of this new model and will also start delivering them early next year in 2014. Well we hope that the car finds quite a few takers and that the company is also deliver the same as per schedule.
